Yesterday morning, shortly after the flag ceremony at Tabalogo High School, several students reported nausea and difficulty breathing. Eleven (11) students were brought to the hospital for immediate medical attention. We are relieved to report that all of them are now safe and under medical observation.

Initial assessments suggest that the incident was likely caused by a combination of factors, including gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) triggered by the consumption of unripe mangoes before the ceremony. There is no indication of any environmental hazard or public health emergency.

The City Government of Canlaon, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), responded immediately in coordination with the school administration to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected students.

The Department of Education (DepEd) has expressed its gratitude to the City Government for the swift response.

We urge the public to refrain from speculation and allow proper channels to verify information. The City Government will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.

We thank the parents, teachers, and school staff for their calm cooperation. Under the leadership of Mayor Jose Chubasco B. Cardenas, the safety and welfare of our youth will always remain a top priority.

Padayon ta sa matinud-anon ug tinuoray nga pagserbisyo. SALTA Canlaon!
